What Is Matcha and What Are Its Benefits?
What is Matcha?
Matcha is a type of green tea historically served in Japan in "Japanese Tea Ceremonies". Matcha can be served as lattes, teas, and desserts.
Simply explained, Matcha is the ground powder form of the Tencha tea leaf, which is grown differently and has a unique nutrient profile.
Farmers shade the Tenhca leaves used for Matcha through the majority of their growth period. The lack of sunlight boosts chlorophyll production and increases the amino acid content, which gives Matcha its vibrant and rich dark green color.
After harvesting the Tencha leaves, farmers remove the stems and grind the leaves into a fine powder. This is Matcha.
